Basic steps in installing a new kitchen.

1. Determine the layout

You need to establish where the water and gas lines are located; this will help you know where to place your appliances. Note the location for every appliance and the desired size of the appliances.

2. Measure your cabinet sizes

Begin with the corners of your room and then work heading towards the centre of your walls. The corner cabinets act as a very crucial starting point since they come in few size options.

Determine the size of your base cabinets. Start by calculating the actual sizes for the base cabinets plus the fillers. After this, calculate the actual size of your wall-hang cabinets. Your wall cabinets should typically be a bit shallow than your base cabinets.

3. Installing a new kitchen cabinets

Once you have marked up the wall surface, assemble the cabinets. Sometimes, the wall cabinets may come with installation rails attached across their backs. This is done in such a way that you cannot see once the cabinets are held up on the wall. Make sure you note their actual size and position; this will guide you on how to drill holes directly through the inside of your cabinet once it’s properly positioned.

As long as you have measured and marked correctly, installing a new kitchen cabinets should be very easy. Follow the layout marks and then attach your cabinets to studs with some screws. To ease your work, install the upper cabinets first. However, you can still look for one of the best joiners in your area to help you in this. This will ensure everything is perfectly placed.

If you have a block wall, screw the cabinets directly to the wall brackets. Wall cabinets should be positioned very carefully to avoid accidents; make sure they are securely screwed to the wall.

4. Installing a new kitchen counter tops

The counter-top is placed directly on top of base cabinets; this creates a flat and smooth work surface for the kitchen. While installing the counter-top, it’s advisable that you install your sink as well. Cut out the counter-top to create the sink space. Install your sink and then seal the counter top.

5. Paint the room

After your cabinets and counter-top are in place, paint your entire room. Painting at this point of installation is necessary so as to avoid any accidental spilling on your brand new floor. Make sure you use high-floss finish; this is the best for kitchens since it’s easy to clean.

6. Install the flooring

It’s very important that you install your flooring before bringing any appliance. Place your flooring under your appliances to make the cleaning easier. Installing a new kitchen floor may take a day or two depending on the type of material you use. Vinyl tiles will take less than one day to install, while ceramic tiles can take a day or two to dry.

7. Install your appliances

Appliances can simply be placed into their right space and then finally connected for use.

Finally, finish your kitchen with details, clean it and then add the cooking and eating utensils to your cabinets.
