If you talk to a real estate agent, they will tell you that while a home’s interior is important, what it looks like on the outside is even more vital when it comes to first impressions. The reason that’s the case is that if a home is a mess on the outside, very few buyers are ever going to even come inside for a closer look.Even if you don’t have any plans to sell your home, you may still be interested in improving your yard. Wanting to improve your yard also doesn’t require that it’s currently a mess. It’s quite normal to have the desire to turn a good one into a great beautiful yard.

Regardless of the current shape of your home’s exterior, you’ll be happy to know that there are quite a few things you can do improve it:

Tips on how to get beautiful yard

Water Less Often

If your first reaction to this suggestion was “what?!”, you’re not alone. Most homeowners assume that in order for their yard to thrive, they need to constantly water it. While your yard does need water to stay healthy, doing the equivalent of splashing it on a daily basis isn’t going to get the job done.

Instead, a better option is to reduce the frequency but increase the intensity. Although you may have to adjust based on the climate of where you live, many experts suggest limiting water sessions to once or twice a week. One of the main benefits of longer but less frequent watering sessions is it will encourage your grass to take deeper roots.

Aerate

This tip ties into watering your lawn less often. You want the water you run across your yard to seep in as deeply as possible. One of the best ways to ensure that happens is through regular aeration. Since aeration literally just means that you’re poking holes in the soil, this process will get rid of clumps and make it easy for water to trickle way down into the ground.

Keep in mind that while there are heavy-duty aerators, that type of tool isn’t necessary for this job. Unlike working in a heavily wooded area that requires industrial logging equipment, it’s possible to do a great job of aerating with just a handheld tool.

Switch Fertilizers

A good fertilizer can significantly improve the look and overall health of your lawn. But the issue many people run into is not realizing that there can be a huge difference in quality between fertilizers. In almost all cases, you’re always going to be better off choosing a natural fertilizer. Not only will this type of product deliver great results, but you’ll be able to enjoy knowing that your beautiful grass didn’t come at the expense of doing long-term damage to the environment.
